A great day to fly

Dinner and a view with friends.

You can pay for first class. But you still can’t sit in front.

I’m told I can’t ride in front.
The view, not to bad.
A big slow boat, and the fast little boat.

A cool place to rest my head.

Get up, get on the road, and Let the fun being!!!

Last day on the snow.

How things change. I skied on Monday 3/29 Stevens Pass had 18” of new powder. Today 4/2 at Stevens I skied on ice in the morning and slush in the afternoon.

7th Heaven

I had a great time with my skiing buddies today. We went nonstop for 4 hours. We also did 2 short hikes and found some great turns.

I’m not as fast as the kids. I’m old and slow. But I have fun.

Let the countdown begin.

365 days ago I was saying the same thing. But 375 days ago I “quit” my job. After 36 years in Seattle & 2 years in Federal Way it was time to walk the earth like Kane.

All I need to do is get an address for 2 more boxes, Tape the boxes shut, shut my pie hole ( 2nd stop is Julian for pie) and get to walking.

I also have a California Fire Permit.

New shoes, new socks and a hat. I’m ready.

36 years / 1 year

37 years ago I started working for the SFD. After 36 years on E2 I called it quits. This is some of the things I’ve done in the last 365 days.

Another day on the Sky.

A great way to start the day.
one of two guys I got pics of today.

Left hand down or Right hand down?

great question! It has to do with how the water is moving in a given drop. In the photo of my friend, most of the current is going toward the rock to his left so he gets more purchase with his paddle in the water on his right side. The drop I went off of, the water is moving from left to right and I go off the left side of the ledge so there is more water for paddle purchase on my left. When a stroke is placed like that right at the edge of a drop and the paddle is perfectly vertical, it’s called a ‘boof’ stroke. It gives you extra momentum as you go off the drop so that you fly forward rather than just floating slowly off the edge.
Thanks Megan for the great info.

2nd guy.
GD MD GO! I got this pic the other day.

Boof this…..
